ISO организира второто издание на наградата за висше образование по стандартизация
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is inviting entries for the second edition of its award to encourage and recognize successful programmes in higher education on standardization.

The ISO Award for Higher Education in Standardization aims to raise awareness of the importance of standardization worldwide by supporting institutions of higher education that have developed and implemented successful programmes related to standardization as a tool to access world markets, transfer technology and promote good business practice and sustainable development.

The award comprises a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize of 15 000 Swiss francs. It is co-sponsored by ISO and the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee (JISC), the ISO member for Japan.

The nomination of candidates must be made by 16 February 2009 to the ISO Secretary-General by the national standards institutes that make up ISO's worldwide membership. The deadline for the subsequent receipt of documented applications for the award is 4 May 2009. The award selection committee consists of eminent personalities from international organizations for education, from academia, the economic sphere and the media.

"Knowledge of the benefits that international standardization can bring is not only important for young people who may one day participate in developing ISO standards," ISO Secretary-General Alan Bryden commented, "but for future managers, engineers and lawyers, as well as political and social leaders.

"This is because the international community is increasingly turning to ISO to develop standards that serve as practical tools to address the facilitation of trade on world markets  as well as global challenges such as, climate change, sustainable development, food and water, energy efficiency and the dissemination of innovation."

The second edition of The ISO Award will be presented in September 2009, at the ISO General Assembly in Cape Town, South Africa. The winning submission, as well as those of the runners-up, receive widespread exposure through publication in ISO Focus magazine and on the ISO Web site.

The winner of the inaugural award in 2007 was China Jiliang University, People's Republic of China, which was one of six finalists. The other educational institutions were from Egypt, France, Republic of Korea, Japan and the Netherlands.
ISO is the world’s leading developer of voluntary, consensus-based International Standards. There are more than 17 400 current ISO standards and related documents that specify the requirements for state-of-the-art products, services, processes, materials and systems, and for good conformity assessment, managerial and organizational practice.
